A three-hour tour
Finally got most of the details worked out for my Boston debut - will post info here soon. Very excited about it, but I was a little surprised this morning to discover that the club expects me to sing for three hours. Or at least to fill a three-hour block with something resembling entertainment.
Three hours? 180 minutes! In New York, you’re lucky if they let you sing for 75 - they’ll haul you off the stage at 76. I understand why: they’ve got to turn the room over for the second show. But in Boston there is no second show. Also no cover charge or minimum, which is a lovely thing if you’re sitting in the audience.
The good news is I’ll get to sing some songs that don’t fit into the show, songs I love. The better news is I have some at least one singer friend Boston who has agreed to sit in and sing a couple of songs - maybe even a duet.
A three-hour tour. It should be a wild ride.
