Time Travel
The pseudo-spouse and I traveled back to the 1960s last night. We went to see The Beebo Brinker Chronicles, a new play based on several lesbian-themed pulp novels from the era. Much breathless, guilt-ridden groping; some very funny dialogue, expertly delivered; some truly sad situations (you wish you could pop all of the characters into a time machine and fast-forward them to the 21st century); and a lot of excellent period music, used very effectively between scenes.
The playbill included a flyer urging us to “tell a friend,” and offering a 30% discount off the ticket price to anyone who uses Code BLST34. We’re all friends here, right?
Go see the show and experience how it used to be. Then go out, have a drink and thank God (and the pioneering queers of that generation) that it’s not anymore.
